The Classics Challenge

Trish has convinced me that I should join the Classics Challenge 2009 although there are only two months left. I only wish I would have found this challenge sooner! I thought about it and with a couple of classics I've read since April 1st and books I planned on reading (and listening to) for other challenges, I should be able to make it. I plan on going for a "classics snack" and reading four novels.

1. Mansfield Park by Jane Austen

2. Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen

3. Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury

4. The Bridge of San Luis Rey by Thornton Wilder

(and I've actually already read The Old Curosity Shop by Charles Dickens and The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins for the Victorian Challenge in June which I will post on the Classics Challenge).
I'm not sure if I'll get to the bonus round of reading a should be/will be classic, but if I do, I'll try to read Jonathon Strange & Mr. Norrell - Clarke. I have had it sitting here on my to read pile for four years or so ...it's about time I get to it!

This will be fun - I miss my classics book club so this will be a new way to get me back on track with the classics!

  1. Better late than never! And you will enjoy these classics. As for me, I've read 3 out of 4 but it's been a long time since--may be time to reread them!

  3. I've actually read Mansfield Park and Sense and Sensibility before, but it's been a few years. I'm listening to the audiobook versions for the Everything Austen Challenge so I thought I'd double up! :-)

Lit & Life - You'll have to keep it on your radar for next year!
