I love a good
Christmas mystery. In this short story,
Hercule Poirot is asked to attend a Christmas party to investigate the disappearance
of a foreign prince’s valuable ruby.
Poirot partakes in traditional English celebrations while keeping an eye
on all of the celebrants. When one of
them ends up dead, will Poirot be able to solve the crime?
I loved this short
story and how it succinctly gave the reader sketches of all of the characters
and also had Poirot solve the crime. It was
a pretty lighthearted mystery. I love English traditional Christmas
celebrations and enjoyed the descriptions of that as well. I once again did not solve this mystery and
was surprised by the ending. It did give
me a chuckle that like all parties Poirot attends, it did end with a
murder.
This was actually
an early Poirot story and was originally published in 1924 with an update in
1960. I enjoy Christmas mysteries and
especially an Agatha Christie Christmas mystery. This was a great holiday audiobook.
A bit late but all the very best for 2022.
