I read a great review of Holly’s Inbox in Entertainment Weekly a couple of months ago. It was compared to Bridget Jones’ Diary, which is one of my favorite books, so I decided I should definitely read this book. Unfortunately our entire library system only had one copy of the book – which I was finally able to snag.Although this book looks weighty at 600 plus pages, it is actually a very quick read. Set up as a book told through emails, it is the story of Holly Denham as she starts a new job at a bank. She has relationship, family, and work woes, and we also solve the mystery of her past.
Overall it was a funny, light read – perfect for summer. The only negative I had with the book was that the email format constrained it so that I felt that I never got to know some characters as well as I would have if it were written in a more traditional format. I wonder when the a book written all in twitter will be coming out . . .
Otherwise my only other complaint was that it was hard to put the book down. I will be reading the sequel when it comes out!
