Star Wars: Prophets of the Dark Side (#6) by Paul Davids and Hollace Davids

In Prophets of the Dark Side, all of the storylines from the previous five novels come together in a satisfying conclusion.

Princess Leia and Han Solo are planning their large wedding and send Luke Skywalker and Jedi Prince Ken off on an errand to help them out.  While on this errand, Luke and Ken are captured and Ken is forced to lead Supreme Prophet Kadann to the Lost City of the Jedi on Yavin IV in order to save Luke’s life.  Ken finally learns the truth of his mysterious parentage, and Han and Leia finally have their dream wedding.

I thought the ending seemed rushed and lead to many, many questions.  It felt like there should be another book in this series.  Where is Triclops going?  What will happen to Ken?  I want to know!  Unfortunately I never will as this was the last book in the series.  My ten year old son Kile enjoyed this book and the entire series.  I enjoyed it as well, but I wish there were more answers!

Star Wars: Queen of the Empire (#5) by Paul Davids and Hollace Davids

My ten year old son Kile and I are continuing to read this Star Wars series written for children.  It was written in the 90’s so it is no longer canon, but Kile doesn’t care.  We are both enjoying the adventure story and the pictures.

In Queen of the Empire, Han proposes to Leia and Lando convinces them to get married on Fun World.  Unfortunately Zorba the Hutt also decides to visit Fun World at the same time and is dismayed to find his son Jabba’s murderer, Princess Leia, still alive.  All heck breaks loose at this point, and there is much action with a plot full of twists and turns.

Kile and I both enjoyed this installment in the series.  Although Kile missed Ken (the Jedi prince) being a large part of the story.  Hopefully he will be back in book six, the last book in the series.  I like that it is a fun adventure that keeps Kile and I interested in a new Star Wars story.

My favorite quote:  “I never murdered anyone,” Leia said defiantly. “I’m a diplomat.  I believe on should settle disputes using peaceful negotiations – unless one is attacked and has to defend herself.”

Star Wars: Mission from Mount Yoda (#4) by Paul Davids and Hollace Davids

Supreme Prophet Kadann is set to bring down Trioculus and take control of the Empire.  The prophets also have a secret mission to contain a threat to the dark side.  The Rebels are helping to save archaeologists and their treasures on the planet Duro when they come across a valuable secret of the Empire.

My ten year old son Kile whizzed through this book.  When I asked him what he liked in particular he said, “I liked the whole thing.”  To me he once again enjoyed the young Jedi prince Ken in the story and he also liked the secret tunnels and mysterious finds.  I enjoyed that there was another environmental theme about mining pollution in this novel.  Kile likes the stories and how they continue from one book to another.  He also likes the pictures including the picture guide to characters that are at the start of each novel.

Overall, Mission from Mt. Yoda was another great addition to the series and kept Kile very entertained.  He can’t wait to read the last two books in the series.
