On a Night Like This (TLC Book Tour)

What are your favorite romantic comedy novels or movies?

Fran Cooper seems stuck in a rut with life.  She loved her job as an assistant, but her fiancé, Stew, wants her to become a teacher.  They have moved from London, a city that she loves, into a house that Stew’s Nana left him in a rural area.  Stew does not like the travel involved with her job and blames his past cheating on it.  Fran takes one last gig as an assistant for a week to a famous singer who is going to be the performer at the Crystal Ball, which is the biggest celebrity bash of the season.  Fran’s week does not go as planned.  After she meets the handsome Evan who seems to click with her in a way no one else has, will she be able to find a way to change her life forever?

I loved this romantic comedy.  I loved how Fran was able to go on an adventure and realize what she really wanted out of life.  I felt this was a Cinderella type romance with a lowly assistant crashing the Crystal Ball of the elite. She even gets a beautiful dress and make-up session.  It even had a Cinderella type leaving of the ball at the end and Evan needing to find her.  What I really loved is that instead of just running off together, Fran takes the time to fix her life before moving on.  I loved the comedy in this book as well with several laugh out loud moments.  This book would make a great movie!

The book is written from Fran’s first-person narrative, and it had some great characters.  I really loved Jess her best friend, and Juliette her famous client.  I hated her boyfriend Stew.  I want Jess to get her own story.

Favorite Quotes:

“A stranger did something very similar to me once upon a time and I realized there are moments in our lives where we all need someone to remind us, we’re allowed to be happy.”

“Being brave meant changing things, and I was deeply afraid of change but what was worse facing my fears or choosing unhappiness?”

Overall, On a Night Like This is a fun escapism read.  I need to find more books from author Lindsey Kelk

  1. You definitely should read more Lindsey Kelk! I've read a couple now and they are just fun ones to pick up in between books with maybe a more serious plot. I really enjoy her. Thank you for being on this tour! Sara @ TLC Book Tours
