The lucky winner of One Day in December by Josie Silver is Leigh Anne of This Bibliophile Life. Leigh Anne left a comment on November 7th. She was chosen using random.org and has been notified via email. She has one week to respond before a new winner will be chosen.
Thank-you to all who entered the giveaway and TLC Book Tours for allowing me to be a part of the tour and allowing me to host a giveaway. This was a fun novel that reminded me of one of my favorite Christmas movies, Love Actually. My friend Carol, the local head librarian, enjoyed this one as well. My review is located at this link if you'd like to read more about it.
That is is for my current giveaway! I'll have a Raffle-copter giveaway up next week so stay tuned.

One Day in December by Josie Silver (TLC Book Tour Review and GIVEAWAY!)
Any
fans of Love Actually out there? One Day
in December pays homage to this classic Christmas movie and uses a theme from
this movie to create a new classic romantic comedy novel. My favorite part of this was that the movie
is referenced at the start of the novel and what a jerk the character is for
being in love with his best friend’s girlfriend and then wife. . .
Laurie
feels an instant connection when she is on a bus and looks across to make eye
contact with a stranger that is outside of her bus. She spends a year looking for him only to
find him when her best friend, Sarah, brings him home as her new boyfriend,
Jack. Laurie is crushed but doesn’t want
to ruin Sarah’s happiness. Does Jack
remember her? How can she get over her
feelings when she is always the third wheel with them?
Ten
years passes by and the trio have their ups and downs. Laurie eventually meets a wonderful man named
Oscar in Thailand. Will their romance
continue when they return to England? As
Sarah and Jack’s careers progress, will they be able to keep their relationship
together? Will Laurie and Jack continue
to be able to deny the spark between them?
I
loved this novel. The story was mainly
narrated by Laurie through the years but did have sections where Jack narrated
it as well. I loved the ups and downs of
their lives and how they dealt with them separately and together. It was a wonderful romantic comedy and a joy
to read.
Favorite
Quotes:
“Even
the closest of families have their tragedies, and it’s fair to say that ours
came early and cut deep.”
“You
know how some events turn out to be the big stepping stones between one part of
your life and the next? I don’t just
mean the steps you intend to take, like leaving home or starting a new job or
marrying the person you love on a summer’s afternoon. I mean the unexpected steps: the middle-of-the night phone calls, the
accidents, the risks that don’t pay off.”
“You
tread lightly through life, but you leave deep footprints that are hard for
other people to fill.”
Overall,
One Day in December is a perfect romantic comedy and also a fun read for the
Christmas season.
