Seeking more humor in my life, especially on my long daily commute, I found The Fireside Grown-Up Guides Audio Collection. As The Fireside Grown-Up Guides state, “Adulting is hard. The Fireside Grown-Up Guides are here to help.” The Fireside Grown-Up Guides Audio Collection contains The Fireside Grown-Up Guide to the Husband, The Fireside Grown-Up Guide to the Hangover, the Fireside Grown-Up Guide to the Mom, and the Fireside Grown-Up Guide to Mindfulness.

I love this description from the publisher:
” Have you been having trouble with the How, Why, and Where’s? Well fear no more. The Fireside Grown-Up Guides understand the world is just as confusing to a forty-year-old as it is to a four-year-old, and are here to assist by breaking down the most pressing and complex issues of our day into small easy-to-digest nuggets of information even a child could understand.”

I enjoyed listening to this audiobook on the way home from a trying day at work. I thought they were immensely relatable, especially The Fireside Grows-Up Guide to the Mom. I loved the satirical humor. It was very British – and I am a big fan of British comedy.

Favorite Quotes:

"A mom has two very important jobs to do. One is to look after her children. The other is to do everything else as well."

"When she was single, Debbie had nightmares about being alone and unwanted. For the last three years, someone has called for her every two minutes and watched her every time she has taken a bath or sat on the toilet. Debbie now dreams of being alone and unwanted, even for just a few minutes."

“Alison has been staring at the beautiful tree for five hours. She was meant to be in the office. Tomorrow she will be fired. In this way, mindfulness will have solved her work-related stress.”

"Husbands like to meet with friends for a chat. This husband has been talking to his friends for five and half hours about which Doctor Who would win in a game of hide-and-seek. He has forgotten to ask whether his friends' wives and children are still living with them, or even alive.”

These quotes make me laugh again. If you are looking for a quick funny audio, with more than a bit of irony, I highly recommend the Fireside Grown-Up Guides Audio Collection.
